Bittersweet Symphony: Nostalgia and Melancholia in Music Reception

Listening to music can cause experiences of nostalgia and melancholia. Although both concepts are theoretically related, date they have not been analyzed together regarding their emotional cognitive profiles. In this study, we identify theoretical underpinnings determine how be measured empirically. We analyze listening causes melancholia, whether related different behavioral intentions. To end, conducted an online experiment with 359 participants who listened considered either nostalgic, melancholic, or neutral.
